Land Preservation  

Growth is inevitable when “underdeveloped” communities become attractive places to live. However, with change come the costs of new schools and infrastructure, traffic congestion, and subdivisions built without regard to form or function.

As municipalities address rapid growth, higher property taxes and the expense of needed land use regulations can squeeze long-time property owners. 

Under such conditions, land preservation and stewardship can lead to business opportunities. Income-producing strategies can include short-term housing rentals, hunting, and other recreational leases, niche crop development, selective timbering, and conservation easements.  
 

GIS  

The need for GIS and visualization services often arises during our work. For example, we have employed GIS to evaluate the policy and regulatory effects on land available for recreational use leases and identify locations for growing niche agriculture crops. GIS has enabled us to examine neighborhood crime conditions and retail accessibility. Our real estate work has used GIS to analyze single-family detached housing tenure, ownership, and investment patterns at the neighborhood level.  

 Real Estate  

Our real estate services include Market Research, Financial Feasibility, and Case Study Assessments. We can also research and assess the pipeline of planned real estate projects under development review and assist municipalities with preparing redevelopment site marketing and promotional materials. Past projects have included evaluating changes in ownership patterns and property values at the neighborhood level.  

Economic Development

We assist nonprofits and local governments with various economic development services, including conducting fieldwork inventories, writing destination website content, and conducting stakeholder outreach. We can also help communities design marketing materials to promote redevelopment and adaptive reuse sites
